We have had multiple calls/complaints as to property maintenance and upkeep regarding grass, weeds, overgrowth, and rubbish/garbage being stored on properties within the borough, specifically regarding Broad St, Montgomery St, Brook St, and North Main St.

I will be performing a sweep of the borough starting Tuesday 8/08/2023.

Montgomery Borough has tried to take a proactive approach in resolving potential borough ordinance violations by reaching out to the residences before actions are taken.

So here is a friendly reminder of a few items:

  • Maintain your grass height below 6” on your property, property lines, along alleyways, streets, sidewalks and curbs.
  • Bushes and shrubs are not to extend into or over public sidewalks, alleys or streets.
  • Trees, bushes and shrubs are not to be against or touching a neighboring property building.
  • Public sidewalks and curbs are to be kept clear of vining plants, weeds and overgrowth.
  • Rubbish and debris (example: piles of scrap, tires, bags of garbage not in containers, etc) are to be placed in garbage containers for trash pickup, removed, or stored inside a building.

If violations are found during the sweep, an action of enforcement with penalties will be issued per Montgomery Borough Ordinance and IPMC 2021. Continual violations will be sent to the District Magistrate.

Let’s keep our borough looking great…

Sincerely,

Joseph M. Lyons, PMCE
