***UPDATE*** BLACK HOLE CREEK WATERSHED ASSOCIATION RECEIVED GRANT

Black Hole Creek Watershed Association has been awarded our 3rd Growing Greener grant from the PA DEP.  The "Riparian Buffer Planting Project" will take place at the White Deer Golf Course.  The purpose of this streamside planting is to filter nutrients, provide shade to cool the stream, and enhance the natural beauty of the WDGC and the stream that runs through it.

All native plants will be used for the project.  Perennials, shrubs, grasses and trees will be plated in areas where it will most benefit the creek without interfering with the play on the fairways.

In October 2007, volunteers from BHCWA and Ironwood Native Plant Nursery of Trout Run, planted 32 Speckled Alder shrubs.  Some site preparation will be done in February of 2008, with two major plantings in the spring of 208.  Volunteers will be encouraged to join in this effort.  Notices will be posted in town and in local newspapers.
